July 11, 2020 - 12.7% abv. Bright, transparent burgundy red, very expressive aromas. On the palate, raspberry, cherry, sassafras, cinnamon and other baking spices. Excellent depth and length. Tastes young, primary and very energetic. Will only improve over the next several years.

January 11, 2020 - After going through 2-3 2012 Kiser/Copain bottles that had something wrong with them, we were thrilled that this was as good as it was.

Definitely needed a minute to open up, but otherwise complex flavors and quite enjoyable

November 27, 2019 - This started off closed and mute, needing an hour to let the fruit begin to fill in and the texture to round out. Red apple and juicy raspberry, with a lightly stony note that gives the finish some light grip. This is pretty classic Kiser, with a juicy, balanced, more subtle core that is delicious.

September 10, 2019 - pairs GREAT with food (91pts). On it's own it has nice fruit on the front but a bit acidic on the finish(88 pts).

June 9, 2018 - god, just Alan's note on this wine? No one else? Alan has a terrific palate so I'll lend a hand and double to TN volume with my entry here. For this bottle, opened last night and enjoyed a glass. Returned the cork to the bottle and stuck it back in the fridge. 12.7% ABV. Serving at ideal temp for this note, using a burg stem, no food. Aromas show a cool mix of cracked spice (initially it seems a little like pine needle), reminding me of some whole cluster impact, although I am still not clear if Wells added any back in more recent years but if you blinded me on this, I'd wager there are some stems here. Maybe too a whiff of some new wood, but it's really a whiff and there isn't any wood in the core of the wine's taste. Within the palate, imagine a combination of slate and red fruit like pomegranate, cherry, blueberry and kiwi. If you drink this cool, then it allows the wine to coil and the flavors are a bit more crisp, tart. But when allowed to warm closer to room temp, then the wine fattens some and the tarter quality recedes and the blue fruit comes forward more. This is typical Kiser En Haut terroir/taste for me so in that way, this is true to place. The vintage gives this a wonderful core of fruit and the slate finishes the wine nicely. No rusk to drink these but I do enjoy it now. It's just too bad to see this wine disappear from the portfolio after 2016 so we'll have to see how the new JFW plot (called Maggy Hawk) which is across the street from Kiser shows once Wells gets his hands around the farming and understands the blocks.
