Community Tasting Notes 20

December 23, 2023 - Was a Secret Santa gift, never tasted one before. Only Paso bottle in my cellar. Zin, Syrah, Mourvèdre blend at a whopping 15.7%abv. Dark black cherry color, nose more GSM than Zinfandel. Blackberry, black cherry, the blending wines must have been pretty ripe as the palate was all ripe fruit with no acid backbone to speak of and little spice. Kinda what I usually get from Paso wines I’ve had. Was easy drinking and hid the alcohol well but not memorable. Wouldn’t seek out more.

June 3, 2023 - Disappointing... we don't have to pay $65 for a 92-point Zin. Won't get any more anyway because they no longer ship to NJ. Oh well.

8/26 Another bottle: 93. An excellent Zin blend in which the wine maker's skill in blending softened the Zin without diluting the full flavor. Nicely done.

June 4, 2022 - Bright fruit profile with soft finish

    May 10, 2022 - Drinking really well.
Dark fruit especially black cherry. Moves to spice and then some black pepper. Tannins have become silky smooth. The Syrah and Mourvèdre add a complexity.
This is the wine that made me love LC years ago. It still delivers.

March 15, 2022 - Fruit forward, blackberry, ripe black cherry, with full body, smooth tannins, long finish. Very good.
