Community Tasting Notes 3

January 7, 2007 - Rch blood-red, orange - looking good but aged. The nOse is fruit and smoke - sadly it is the smoke that lasts but this is smooth and enjoyable.

December 11, 2006 - Hefty ullage - well below top shoulder - did not bode well but the wine was fine. Colour was a gentle blend of light red and orange, and clear. The nose was light, burnt wood, toast and some fruit. The palate was lovely with a smooth mouthfeel, wood and cake - both giving it a distinct sweetness. I think the fruit on the palate was sitting on a knife edge of acidity. Pleasant - and well worth the risk of buying such an old wine.

December 2, 2006 - Red to orange rim but healthy look. Then the nose - musty, corked with some fruit trying to get through. The palate is smooth, a bit thin but very sweet - like a watered down port. Shame it was corked.
