March 31, 2024 - Tricerchi's 2013 Brunello is aging gracefully. From a bottle purchased upon release and properly cellared, this wine was re-visited after initially being tasted at the Castello 6/26/2019. The edges have rounded, all the while retaining a beautiful degree of freshness. Medium garnet in color, it flaunts a bouquet of raspberry, apricot and red currant fruit that is flanked with notes of coriander, lavender, pine nuts, pipe tobacco and dry earth. Medium-bodied and with fully integrated wood, it delivers flavors congruent with the aromas. At this stage, the tannins have fully integrated, resulting in a silky-textured mid-palate and smooth, lengthy finish. Popped, poured and serially tasted over three hours, this unfurled the apricots, lavender and pine nuts after two hours of aeration. Give it the air if possible. Drink now-2028.

March 28, 2022 - Great example if this wine. Complex with a smooth finish.

October 13, 2021 - Dusty on the nose--cherries, tar, and a little bit of cola. Still fairly tannic on the palate. The fruit is a little muted on the mid-palate, but picks up some on the finish. Not sure about the longevity here--should hang around for another 5 years, but not sure it will see another decade.

June 26, 2019 - Visiting Rome and Tuscany; 6/18/2019-7/2/2019 (Lazio and Tuscany, Italy): Aged for approximately 42 months in 15 and 20 hectoliter Slavonian oak foudres, Tricerchi's Brunello has achieved an impressive balance of fruit and wood. Deep garnet in color, it offers a bouquet of red and black bramble fruits, Montmorency cherries, baking spices, pipe tobacco and dry earth. Medium-bodied, freshly acidic and with silky tannins, it delivers flavors in line with the nose, underscoring them with a dollop of oak that is perfectly complimentary. The middle palate is solid and the finish is lengthy, making this difficult to resist. Drink now-2028.
