September 29, 2020 - Musty and tannic. Good fruit.

May 16, 2019 - The 2016 Costières-de-Nîmes Cuvée Tradition is a tasty cuvée (half Grenache and half Syrah) that exudes blackberry, cherry liqueur, black pepper and cocoa powder in a bouquet that blossoms with air. Concentrated dark fruit and grippy tannins emerge on the palate upon a creamy, full-bodied frame. At $10 this is an absolute steal that can be enjoyed within the next 4-5 years.

February 13, 2019 - Decent wine with good nose and powerful taste. Nothing special at all and quite boring.

March 20, 2018 - Having moved from LA to Nashville (where there were few interesting wine shops until a few years ago), I hadn't run across this producer literally in decades. This rustic blend of Grenache and Syrah isn't a wine to bring to a casual social gathering, as it is likely to be appreciated mostly by wine geeks or those with an adventurous palate. Initially it is pretty stinky on the nose, but that recedes a bit after 10 minutes to reveal the smoky blueberry and blackberry fruit that lurks underneath. Very rich on the palate with a blanket of firm tannins. This would work well with BBQ, and it probably would be best with food in any event. There is a lot of stuffing here, suggesting that the wine will drink much better and offer up more complexity in about 2-3 years. I'm tempted to throw a couple of these in the cellar just to see what happens with them. (90-92)

Update: On the second night, the gameyness tones down and the wine is predominated by rich dark fruit and garrigue.
