  January 10, 2024 - Four Bottles to Kick Off 2024 in Style (Santa Ynez, California): This wine continues to evolve beautifully. Fresh, taut and precise, with apple and lemon notes now being complemented by a touch of nuttiness. There is additional complexity present, relative to prior bottles I enjoyed, and ample acidity. I am glad to be able to have a few more laying down, so that I can continue to follow the evolution of this beauty.

  July 10, 2021 - Wines to Accompany a Very Grand Barbecue (Alisal Guest Ranch, Solvang, CA): Almost three years since I last tasted this. Whereas that bottle was almost painfully young, the wine now presents itself beautifully, with ample apple and sweet lemon notes kept in check by a welcome thread of acidity. No rush, though i will be moving my others up in the rotation for sure.

  November 15, 2018 - A 40-Year Retrospective on 1978's (Los Olivos, CA): Taut and precisely delineated, with notes of chiffon and apple. A bracing acidity. Needs a few years to come together and round out.
