    July 6, 2020 - Tasted Blind

    A: Medium purple
N: Medium (+) nose of PLUM, blackberry, cassis, cherry , olive, liquorice, clove, chocolate, grass, tobacco, leather and after 15 mins of sniffing and direction from others, I finally figured the initial smell that I was getting was barnyard (Brett), also got some VA here.
P: Dry, medium (+) acidity, high STALKY tannins (typical of merlot based wine - see Beyond Flavor by Nick Jackson), medium alcohol, medium (+) body and and finish

    Guesses:
Barnyard and so I put this in the old world and assumed a bit of natural wine making. As this was quite purple and old world, I assumed it was a Syrah., Ive had a Crozes Hermitage from 2015 that I bought in Costco with this kind of Brett on it and so has that as a first guess.

    Mistakes:
Ignored the very first fruit I smelled....plum (my tell for merlot ) and it kept coming back to me but I got a lot of blackberry and cassis too so some cab sav maybe. . It was a natural wine hence the Brett. Also, the tannins should be on the gums in a merlot based wine and not on the middle of the tongue where you expect it in Syrah (according to Beyond Flavour, This one I have yet to confirm through my own tasting experience). Also, there was zero black pepper and so unlikely to be Syrah.

December 31, 2019 - Great ruby color. The nose initially puts off a ton of barnyard and black olive that eventually gives way to dark fruit aromas. The palate carries the fruit primarily with a touch of baking spice and a lively acidity. Very much a food friendly wine. Nothing special, but just easy to drink!

August 30, 2019 - This was delightful. Very good value. Medium+ Barnyard, and as someone else mentioned, bandaid on the nose. Balanced with just enough grip to keep things interesting. Happy acid on the finish, which helped it pair nicely with a grilled rib-eye.

May 14, 2019 - Angelica wine club - Bordeaux (Strand Cellars, Croydon): "Wet, stinky, gamey, spiced, blueberry notes that prove oddly jubey - semi carbonic maceration? And a touch of struck match, rubber, graphite, ink, black pepper…lots going on aroma-wise. Juicy, tangy, slightly wet, black fruit, silky tannins, graphite, black pepper. Quite Bretty.
Had no idea what this was other than not very clean - it was almost like a rough St Joseph. "

April 5, 2019 - Enjoyed this. A bit rustic, some barnyard and a little bandaid on the nose. Nice underlying fruit, good acidity and minerality. Improved with air.
