February 24, 2024 - Full of beautiful juicy, expansive cabernet fruit, framed by superfine tannins and hints of vanilla and chocolate. Lacks a little complexity, but extremely delicious. At peak, I think.

November 23, 2022 - Tasted double blind. Easily identifiable as mature Heitz thanks to the spicy minty notes. I even thought it might be a Martha‘s but it probably hasn’t the depth of an MV. Still, this is the best Trailside I‘ve had to date. This bottle showed layered, round and was still very fresh and full of tension (had been stored in a cold cellar) and has lots of life left.

TN: Superb strawberry nose, fine, ripe but not overripe. Additional minty notes, some earthy scents. More clearly defined on the palate with fine red berries, strawberries, minty/eucalyptus notes and some earthy/tobacco notes. Intense, still young-ish, fine tannins and goo acidity which keeps the wine fresh.

Decanting: Not decanted. Good from the go but improved in the glass. A short decant should be sufficient.

November 12, 2022 - During a blind tasting dinner. From the aroma profile I was leaning towards Napa due to the good red cranberry fruit core with eucalyptus but the palate was very much in the racy Bordeaux style. An awesome Cabernet this was, it had it all. I wish all Napa wines were made this fresh. Excellent. 96+

November 11, 2022 - Tasted blind. Not decanted. Fruit of red currant and cassis, distinctly herbal feature of menthol, smoke and a fine layer of spice. The palate was the true show-stopper: Elegant, light and fresh palate boasting a silky texture with tannin molten away. This did not only show all of the signature features of Martha’s Vineyard, but is even able to beat Martha‘s Vineyard bottles of similar age.

October 3, 2022 - was up in the woods, but remember this being very very nice after a 3 hour decant... my best bottle so far
