Community Tasting Notes 6

March 1, 2020 - Darkish fruit, some woodiness, solid acidity and grip, tobaccco leaf

May 9, 2019 - Bought for 6e/glass as a "mystery wine" a local good-value gourmet restaurant in urban France. Best Wine-searcher Pro is about 10e (bottle!) across available vintages and 12e for the '16 (both in FR). Dark purple color; lean cab franc nose with some spice; lean mouthfeel, cab franc metallic. Last pour from the bottle--short pour with sediment: bad luck, I guess. Might buy at retail. My evaluation: I've stopped giving scores on a "100-point scale" as I've become less convinced that they can be meaningful to others. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. I considered this notable- when considering quality, age, and price.

January 28, 2019 - A very nice medium bodied entry level Chinon showing lively red fruit, minerals, fresh acidity and enough backbone. Absence of the raw resinous taste sometimes found in young Loire CabFranc is welcome. Moreish it slipped down all too easily. I doubt whether there is much point in giving this a lot more age. Good.

October 15, 2018 - Mark's. Very young, macerated grapey nose, fresh and juvenile on the palate. Too young for me.

July 28, 2018 - Second bottle this month...first bottle was very nice...but this one was absolutely killing...game and banana peel on the nose...palate: nice Xtra crisp acid and cool tart juicy red fruits, herbal notes....dare I say this is Breton franc de pied'ish.... except this is $16.99...say what????
