June 2, 2021 - Aromatic bouquet with honey. On the palate firm citrus acidity.

May 29, 2020 - This is quite a different type of wine from what you might expect from a Sancerre. In its depth and complexity, it blows the conventional characteristics of the variety apart, reminding me more of a Chablis (1 Cru) than a Loire.

There is obviously a philosophy behind the wine, and one that is being cultivated by other young winemakers in this area. It is wonderful to see (and drink) such wines, and long may they last.

I do, however, think there is also a space in our palates for the traditional lighter variety.

September 7, 2019 - Bought Lay and Wheeler, UK, approx £22.00

    C....pale

    N....insipid, disappointing

T.....that's better: lovely chalky/flinty minerals; quince, lemons (pith), grapefuit; classy wine; elegant rather than thrusting intensity, Old World style, as you'd expect; subtle but not without flavour; good core, brooding with length; nice earthiness, in fact that character is bigger then it's fruit profile.

VFM?.....Not a bargain because it ain't cheap; their Cuvee Edmonde is better VFM; probably won't buy La Demoiselle again.

October 20, 2018 - Potpourri of Wines from an Autumn Trip to France; 10/9/2018-10/24/2018 (Paris, Lyon, Beaune, Reims): Pale. Salt and citrus. Fairly light weight for Mellot but still some glycerine. Zippy orange and grapefruit pith, mouthwatering acidity, no trace of oak. Beautiful Sancerre.

The tangy citrus is just as intense the next. Strong effort that should drink well for 5 more years.

May 15, 2018 - Notes of gooseberry, white currant, citrus fruit, grassy/herbal. On the palate slightly creamy, mineral, punchy acidity. Well balanced and rather complex. Very good. 91-93
