Community Tasting Notes 4

April 23, 2023 - Short note on this one, but simply excellent. Showing very well now but has room to develop much further. Not as wild as some have characterized the wine. Quite generous in terms of the fruit with ample weight. Long and rewarding finish.

July 27, 2021 - Vice Versa weekend and dinner: Funky earth and dusty plum, with cedar, mushroom, salt rock, smoke, and wilted herb flavors. Slightly thin and watery on the finish. Medium all the way around. No fireworks here this time compared to my last bottle over a year ago.

July 9, 2021 - Fully agree with the tasting note of CSIMM1161.
Cannot remember to gave a higher score to a red burgundian (its not my preferred region).

So absolutely pure fruit expression and elegance. Wow, pretty astonishing and will buy some more.

February 29, 2020 - A fascinating wine, with a nose that blasts sea foam and oyster shells right into the back of the mouth...Like walking down a fog-covered beach in Point Reyes with seaweed-strewn sands and hundreds of mussels stuck along the rocks near the tide pools. Add a couple of hippies smokin’ up a campfire on the shore and you have some crazy, pungent saline aromas jumping out of the glass.

On the palate, a bit of a different story, with ripe black and red cherry, black and red raspberry, smoke, citrus rind, earth, dried flowers, and sea foam. The saline element is certainly present (and pleasant) but stays on the periphery of the core where it belongs, so as not to totally overpower the beautiful fruit. Pure, deeply pitched, and slightly brooding on the front end, with the secondary flavors adding lift and complexity as they make their way through delivery. Finishes with a soft, round composure, but with plenty of grip to keep the energy moving and the focus solid. The tail hits the very tip of the tongue with a faint smidge of the mussel shell note (that was prominent on the nose). Beguiling from start to finish. Drink now and over the next decade+. 94-95+ (mostly nerd factor) points.

Mikulski has been a success with his Meursault whites, so it was interesting to see his take on Pinot as well. A cool wine to geek-out on.
