August 28, 2021 - Needs some air. Took a couple of hours to really get going.
This wine is a blend of Giacche and Parigina, neither of which I have ever tried before.
Very pleasant aromatics that intensified with air - ripe cherry, tea, licorice. This is not particularly concentrated but it has a real warmth and very complex and structured. Herbal and citrus notes stand out, but there is also plenty of dried red fruit (strawberry), ripe plum, pomegranate, dried orange peel, and an almost aged Sangiovese stewed tomato note. Finish is dry, earthy/leather and citrus notes lingers for well over a minute.
Paired with pasta alla norma.
