May 10, 1991 - With MPL and BLR at S&F survey of CA "Rhone clones." Somewhat foamy. Decent color, but a bit developed for its age. Nose is faintly fruity, but that's all. Not nearly as good as other vintages. On the palate, tastes green and unripe. Not good. Not good at all. 3-8-6-3: 70/100.

September 29, 1990 - With MPL at S&F survey of new Californians. Dark magenta.. Blockbuster nose. Big, extracted. Good flavor, but not real concentrated as the nose would suggest. Nice delicate raspberry finish. Pepper too. Good, not great. 5-11-15-7: 88/100.

August 18, 1990 - With MPL and BLR at S&F survey of new California wines. Darker than the "Old Telegram." Loads of fruit, but light. On the palate, a bit tannic. Lots of fruit. Better than Old Telegram, but not as good as its predecessors. 5-9-15-7: 86/100.
