May 12, 2023 - P&p; pretty much ready to go but at its best with 2+ hours of air in the bottle. My last of four bottles, hasn't changed much over the past three years. Vivacious, cherrylike, dark red fruit and flowers with juniper and smoky rocks. Ample acidity. Fairly tannic as well. Touch of leathery agedness, fairly subtle. Delicious and characterful wine, wish I had more.

March 10, 2023 - Juicy, cranberry and cherry but also a bit metallic and a hint of earthy mineralitet. Also a bit dry. I think this is opend to late and it is already drying out a bit.

September 19, 2020 - Deep intense black red. A nose of black liquorice, black and red plums, bramble, earth, blackberries and spice. Lively and moderately lean. Attractive minerality. Fresh acidity, due to the altitude. Vibrant. Blackberries and some cherries. A little rustic but that’s part of its charm. No need to cellar this wine.

August 6, 2020 - Discovering Italian Wine Class at the Texas Wine School. A well-made, Nerello Mascalese (80%), Nerello Cappuccio blend, from 2300' elevation vineyards on the NE side of Etna. Med intensity nose of black plum, mulberry, red cherries, earth, leather and a touch of sweet spice. A light, ethereal style, with a soft press and no oak aging. Dry, med to med (+) acidity, med alcohol (13%). Med. intensity palate and length, with a slight bitterness on the finish. Approachable and good quality for an entry level price into Etna.

May 31, 2020 - Terrific entry level nerello. Great typicity, rough hewn, crunchy crunchy cranberries and lava gravel. Nicely balanced. Mid weight. The antithesis of polished nerello, which is all too common place.
