January 29, 2012 - nice finish. needs several hours to open but impoves the longer it is open.

March 21, 2010 - Agree with the previous description of a slight chemical nuance on the palate. Much better the second night.

March 14, 2009 - Opened and let stand wihtout the cork for about 6 hours before we really dug into it. Poured a bit out and it had a medium ruby color that was starting to show signs of browning. Lovely but slightly chemical on the nose and thin on the palette. Tasted again after a couple hours and while the nose hadn't changed much the palette started to come to life with some detectable layers of fruit. At six hours we had it with the short ribs and it was fantastic, pairing very well with the food. I'm a big brunello fan and it was great with the food but overall wasn't the big wine I was hoping for. Decanting was helpful, but after dinner without food (at ~7 hours) it had some of the thin "old wine" flavor and was starting to decline with the layers of dark fruit harder to find and appreciate. Drink now but decant for a few hours at least.

March 8, 2009 - This wine was a total surprise, especially in view of previous ratings. nice nose, and fantastic finish. benefitted from some time in the glass. perfect complement to grilled meats.

January 1, 2009 - Day 2. Much better. Probably needs time. Much smoother and less tannic than day 1. Chocolate and a bit of tobacco coming thru. Not bad, but i don't think this will ever be better than about 87 pts.
