August 31, 2023 - Hadn't opened one of these in a while and was looking through the cellar for a mid-week bottle of something and grabbed this. Great little winery in Walla Walla and have always enjoyed their stuff.
I remembered this was pretty good for it price point and looked back at my notes and put an 89 on it twice before on 12/19 and 4/22.
Wow has this thing changed in the last 16 months.
Has a little of The Rocks funk on the nose, it’s not as pungent as some, but enough to dominate the smell. Common characteristics of the better wines from this area.
On the pallet though there is no funk to be found. Lots of ripe Blackberry, Blueberry and Boysenberry, but not jammy. Slight peppery finish. Nicely integrated tannins. Great spot to be drinking right now.1 person found this helpful Comment -

May 24, 2020 - WOTN for all present: blueberry and boysenberry fruit, smoked meat, fennel and green olive. Great acidity and tension, lasting finish. Boo hoo, I don't have another bottle. Great job, Steve.

July 10, 2019 - Did not decant. When I tasted it on Cayuse Weekend it seemed more old school to me than last night's bottle did (wherein a young syrah was theoretically a good stand-in for zinfandel with a taco salad), but possibly because we PnP'd it and didn't give it a chance to breathe.
Nonetheless tasty: balanced syrah fruit with a modicum of classic bacon and sage, nice finish. Ideally, wait 1-2 years on other bottles. -

September 23, 2018 - Brought one home untasted. Not bad, Steve. I felt it was a bit youngish. A job well done. Ray.
