January 27, 2021 - This was a pleasant surprise, and reminded me why I like South African wines. Nice Syrah blend, dry and not over sweet or extracted like many Aussie Shiraz, you can taste terroir here. Almost unpleasant smell upon opening that blew off after 5 mins in glass. Some mothballs, lilacs, and lead on the nose. Cool red fruits/raspberry, rhubarb and Rooibus notes, nice mineral streak, very short but drying finish. Nice with cheese and olives. A buy for $10

August 8, 2020 - It had been many years since I tried this wine, but it was quite fun for a simple, summer night. Smoky nose with black cherries, beefy, iodine, sweet cola. Plummy and spicy on the palate with cherry jams, leather, smoky earth. Fun, light tannins.

September 14, 2019 - Bought 3b for 7/b in a mixed case order from WL one month ago. No decant, none needed. Medium purple; good red fruit nose; Rhone-like but fruitier, good mouthfeel. Drunk over four days with attractive evolution from mini-oxidation; fruit became less bright. Stored vertically (screwcap) in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: I've stopped giving scores on a "100-point scale" as I've become less convinced that they can be meaningful to others. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. I considered this notable when considering quality, age, and price.

April 29, 2019 - This is a great bargain red Rhone blend year after year. Plenty of dark fruit and some herb and spice. Taste it blind and I am guessing your rating will go up.

February 28, 2019 - A little touch of the SA funk but otherwise livelier than I have had in the past.
