May 14, 2022 - Opened for a special event. This wine was served without decanting and....if I had to do it again I'd not only decant the bottle, I would also pour it through a strainer because there's some hefty sediment here. This wine has black, purple, blue and dark red fruit. All the fruits are here and very perfumed. Toasted black and purple fruit starts this off with a lot of youthful cedar tannin from the get-go. Acidity which probably would have blown off with a decant. The middle is where this one starts to turn to a blueberry waffle at first, and then goes to a black cherry and hint of brambleberry/boysenberry. The finish is delicious and less acidic than the front but the sweeter youthful fruit and powerful tannic grip with a ton and a half of black pepper and a 60 second finish. Dang! Ok so this was the wine that was first served with the lunch, with the Jack Quinn Agave Rose 2013 taking it the rest of the way (as this one disappeared RATHER quickly between 5 people). Concensus? Drink now with a 2-3 hr decant or let it sit in the cellar for another 5-10 years, but has the bones to go 15-20 years from now with proper cellaring....but you can bet my other bottle will NOT last that long!!

May 15, 2021 - Decanted for about an hour. Dark and brooding in color and character. Smooth and well balanced. A yummy wine that is in its sweet spot right now. Drink now and for the next two to three years.

December 26, 2019 - Beautiful nose, fantastic flavors and really long soft finish. Excellent wine but am a fan of cimarossa wines. I think some of their wines when left to cellar are nearly as good but at half the price point. Nothing wrong with this wine, trust me, it’s very good but can drink two equally good bottles from cellar for the price. Would be interesting to let bottle have 3-4 more years.

November 23, 2019 - This is the first of my holdings that I decided to dip into just to get a peek to see where this wine is currently at. Decanted for greater than 3 hours. Wow! This is a real beauty. Drank along side an 2011 Rian and 2012 Levante. Although not quite as dense as these two, it definitely exceeded them in complexity and overall structure. Even though this baby is still quite young, it came off very balanced and mighty tasty. There is a definite elegance to this wine that sets it apart from its other slightly older Cimarossa counterparts. I will be popping one of these babies each year to see where this special vintage wine is going. Stay tuned!
