April 8, 2020 - Nose > Big, musky, smoky & aromatic with lime-oil/key-lime, lavender, ripe peach, Rainier cherry,
violet, tart apricot & grape blossom.
A waterfall of petrichor over limestone in a stone fruit orchard at harvest time.
Palate > Tight, with great acidity. Gorgeous crushed rock, red cherry, lime flesh, gooseberry & tart nectarine.
    Salty, stoney mineral-infused goodness.
Med+ intensity. Drinks on the dry side of Kab.

January 19, 2020 - I opened this full well knowing that this would be infanticide, but boy oh boy was this a racy beauty. Nose showed reduction with notes of smoke, herbs, and lime. The palate was steely, bright, mineral, and gushing with juicy citrus. This has a VERY bright future ahead. Reminded me quite a bit of his neighbors, Hofgut Falkenstein, and that is a very high complimentary comparison in my book. Balancing delicacy and intensity.

January 5, 2020 - Nose > Big, aromatic lime-oil, lavender, grape blossom, Ugli fruit & smoky Key lime musk.
A touch of egg custard & reduction still.
Palate > The same gorgeous amalgam of smoky, reductive lime/citrus, with white nectarine, white peach, lanolin, steel, citrus zest, lavender & touch of apricot.
Pungent, creamy & gripping. Piercing, salty minerality.
Great acidity & balance. Med+ intensity.
From bottle open a week; this will be a beautiful ager ... if I can keep my hands off a few.
    Yeah Baby

    June 21, 2019 - Pop-n-pour. Pale yellow/green.
Nose > Just a hint of sponti still. Hint of SO2 that showed a couple months ago is gone. Pungent, creamy key-lime, grape blossom, creamy steely honeydew, pink grapefruit, honeysuckle & lemon oil. Very pungent, aromatic fruit here, both relaxed & poised/nervous. Great freshness, volume, complexity & drive. Jumps out of the glass.
Palate > Pungent & creamy. Tight, rich fruit. Key-lime, pink grapefruit Ugli fruit & gooseberry bursting on the tongue. Salty, stoney
mineral-infused. Red & Morello cherry. Key-lime, grape blossom, lime zest, & creamy, steely, ripe (tartaric) acidity echo on the long finish & long aftertaste. Medium+ intensity.
    Just Killer Saar Kabi.
    8% ABV, 51.0g/l RS, 9.6g/l TA, Red slate soil, 56 year old vines, yield 35 hl/ha (2.5 T/A)

April 11, 2019 - Nose > Some sponti, & a hint of SO2 up front. Underneath there is gorgeous key-lime, grape blossom, creamy steely honeydew, pink grapefruit, honeysuckle & lemon oil. Big pungent, aromatic fruit here, both relaxed & poised/nervous. Great freshness, volume, complexity & drive.
Palate > Big, tight key-lime, pink grapefruit Ugli fruit & gooseberry bursting on the tongue. Salty, stoney
mineral-infused. Some red cherry, Morello cherry, & blackcurrant in background. Key-lime, grape blossom, lime zest, & creamy, steely, ripe (tartaric) acidity echo on the long finish & long aftertaste.
Drinks like a classic Saar Kabi.
    Medium+ intensity. 8% ABV, 51.0g/l RS, 9.6g/l TA Red slate soil, 56 year old vines, yield 35 hl/ha (2.5 T/A)

1st taste of this vineyard, & grower. Impressive. Will be drinking (& buying) more soon. Will merit a slightly higher score when the touch of SO2 fades over the next months.

Day 2 > SO2 has dissipated on nose & palate. Fruit has opened to slightly broader, though just as tight & focused. Pungent lime dominates. Great structure, & beautiful, high, ripe acidity. Shows its sugar slightly more after a day of air, but because of the great acidity, still drinks close to an old-school Kabinett. Gave my rating a nudge from 92+ to 93, & will see over next few bottles whether I've been slightly stingy.
Kicking myself now for only buying 6 bottles of this. Can't wait to crack more of Stefan Muller's Riesling!
