Community Tasting Notes 10

January 26, 2024 - wow, what a bad bottle of wine.
Soupy nose, loaded with cooked tomato and alcohol. Palate is not improved, harsh, cooked black fruits with stewed tomato, a terrible wine absolutely obscene, perhaps faulty. No fruit, harsh tannins, alcohol predominates, very bad bottle.

December 6, 2023 - My last bottle...unfortunately. I really liked the previous 2 bottles. The cork was very tight. The end of the cork was wet and smells right. No seepage. But the wine tastes thin and flabby on first swig. Hopefully it will come together with a little air???

October 26, 2023 - I agree fully with ARPERRYMD. I will add that in another year or two this will have hit its stride. I’m glad I have another 4 bottles. Good QPR even if you have to wait a while for it to mature.

September 14, 2023 - Initial tasting, no decanting: Herbs and subtle dark cherries on the nose at the bottom rim after the initial petrol dissipated. Light floral notes and stewed rhubarb at the top rim. Mouthfeel is very drying with loads of tannins. Bitter green peppers. Some chocolate powder. Not much fruit, besides perhaps some blueberry at the end. High alcohol. Moderate acidity. Perhaps another year in the bottle? I would definitely recommend drinking this with food, preferably barbacoa tacos and street corn. 87 points.

    Day Two:
The nose has softened considerably, now with pleasant blueberry compote and fresh black cherries at the base and a light floral bouquet at the top. Tannins remain very present, but are better integrated. Blueberry and cherry are predominant now, with notes of green warm herbs and dark chocolate. Mouth-coating and a very long finish. Dark garnet to ruby with a very light salmon rim. Balanced acidity. High alcohol. Very dry. Can be enjoyed on its own today, but would still be great with barbacoa tacos. I'll change my score to 93 points. Could stand another 2 or 3 years in the bottle.

November 6, 2022 - A good basic wine to go with steak - but not a lot more than that. Quite astringent tannins and whack you in the mouth flavors of dark dark berries and charcoal - pretty typical Toro. Having been blown away by other Telmo Rodriguez wines I was hoping this would be yet another miracle at a highly competitive price. Well it is at a competitive price ($20 at last bottle) and quite fair at that price, and although it is a good example of Toro it is also the least impressive Telmo Rodriguez wine I have tasted.
Score: 87. Relative to expectations: 0
