Community Tasting Notes 13

March 3, 2018 - Like previous notes, this is good, not amazing. Definitely showing its age. A bit smoother and more secondary or even tertiary flavors from the last time I tried it. Pleasant enough, but still more new world than old (which of course it is!).

April 22, 2017 - 4th Saturday Group brown bagger (Our house): Double blind. Aromas of dark fruit and tobacco with a hay/straw note in the background. The dark fruit continues on the palate. Perhaps a bit of brett here.

January 27, 2017 - PnP. After an hour or so open and in the glass, the nose has elements of creamy chocolate, leather, with a hint of tabasco/capsicum. Sweet creamy chocolate on the attack, with a bit sharper, almost vegetal, mid palate. There is a bit of acidity near the end which carries the finish. Overall this feels a bit disjointed: a creamy sweetness battling with a sharper acidic vegetal streak. At the original tariff of 35 this is fine. I think I would be disappointed if it had been at the price of the current release.

March 31, 2016 - At saffron for cayuse weekend. A bit oaky at first, which settled down after some time in the glass. A bit smoother with a little complexity. But not much acidity which is interesting given my previous note. Definitely a more new world profile.

June 8, 2015 - I was trepidatious as I opened this as the 03's are past peak and I've opened two of these only to find them corked. But this one was sublime. Complex, balanced, mellow, just gorgeous in every respect.
