Community Tasting Notes 5

April 26, 2022 - A wine that very much flies under the radar in the Torbreck range. Originally created back in the early 00s for a wine bar in Paris, this offers a wonderful slice of the Torbreck style in an affordable package. Grenache, Mataro and Shiraz blend. Medium, almost translucent ruby as it sits in the glass. Smoked meats, black cherry, blackberry conserve, strawberry, dried earth and black olive all emerge on the attractive nose. The palate has a rich and sumptuous texture with plenty of ripe, dark fruits and dried herbs through the nicely defined, silky finish. Raised in 100% stainless steel this bottling can generally be approached on release but has benefitted very nicely from some bottle age and is drinking very well now. Will easily hold for another 5+ years. Seek it out.

January 21, 2020 - Australia Trade Tasting (London): 14.5% the wine is easy, fruit, the oak is a bit upfront, a bit overly green in the palate, lacks interest though

December 31, 2019 - Light, thin, metallic and fresh. Enjoyable though.

November 24, 2019 - A good Rhône blend, distinctively Australian. A tad green tasting but not overly so (seem to get that a lot with Australian wines). Mistakenly opened this wine which I assumed was the 2016 Shiraz. Torbreck wines are always tasty.

February 15, 2019 - Fresh, chewy and spicy an easy drinking Cote du Rhone blend, Blend of 76% Grenache, 18% Mataro, 7% Shiraz, no oak aging.
