Community Tasting Notes 2

March 14, 2021 - Struggled to read this wine so NR, though I did find it performed well enuf at times over several days both tasting alone and with food. Just never really jumped out as anything but a run of the mill red table wine unfortunately, simply expected a bit more pizazz from this label given other experiences. Maybe with a cheese/antipasti board this would have been better, but lots of other Italian wines can easily eclipse this fwiw.

January 20, 2021 - This bottle is in a great place... arguably, this wine is meant to be drunk young - while your Manzone barolos mature. However, this is a robust Nebbiolo through and through... fine, yet assertive, tannins are present but definitely more integrated than if I’d opened this sooner (Purchased in 2018). Those tannins and a good level of acidity become the frame on which Manzone hangs a relatively fruit-forward palate of cherries, plums and a touch of pomegranate. Secondary traits make cameo appearances - a whiff of menthol, a touch of flower, a shimmer of tar. But these flavors are brief and subtle.

No decant on this, and I’m pretty sure it wasnt necessary. No sediment to speak of. And the wine was fairly harmonious from the get-go... everything integrated and starting to take on juicy silkiness.

Thoroughly enjoyed this. I wish I’d bought more. I’d be curious to see what happens to this in the next 3-5 years.
