    October 18, 2020 - From 375
    Crystal clear garnet ruby
Sweet cherry liqueur, tobacco and leathery flavors in a bone dry package.
Not too generous, but quite lovely.

October 16, 2020 - Friday Night Brown Bagger (J&J's): Double decanted two hours before the flight was poured & tasted blind. Garnet color. Notes of black fruit, dill, plum and currants. Medium-bodied with some tannin to integrate. A bit earthy/dusty, becoming more red-fruited as it opens in the glass. Shows just a bit of acid- would do well at the supper table. With that dill element showing, I was able to pick this out as our Rioja. 89-91 pts.

October 16, 2020 - Great wine but not life changing. Definitely has some time left in the bottle, and didn't change much with 2 hours of full air. First glass was great--funky nose of a noble aged bordeaux, full body with some tension and structure but also very approachable. Good value and a great "intro to aged wine" selection since it walks the line between old and fresh very well. 2nd glass was a bit flat and boring, maybe wore our palates down.

October 9, 2020 - Wild berry aromas mixed with alcohol heat. Tastes of Coffee, fresh blackberries, black cherry bitters, baking spice. Astringent tannins on the finish. Maybe a bit of TCA, deadening the fruit lowered my score.

October 3, 2020 - 89-92. Ruby color with orange rims, very aged port-like. On the nose, damp oak comes through with a bit of rust and aged notes with some orange peel. Palate has nice acidity with fruit standing behind the old oak notes, orange peel and vanilla bean. Finishes medium. This is a traditional style of Rioja with an intense palate experience however without being heavy or tiring.
