Community Tasting Notes 11

February 3, 2022 - In the glass, the wine presents a deep ruby core that is neither opaque nor translucent; a very pretty wine. Notes of black cherry, slight tobo, anise, a touch of earth, and violets waft through the olfactory glands. The mouthfeel is excellent – round and smooth; the balance of fruit, acid and tannins is a sensory pleasure. The flavors track the nose but with black olives taking a turn between the black cherry, tobo, anise, and definitely violets. 13% alc. With pork and beef meatballs over homemade pasta in a tomato sauce. 02.03.22. Highly Recommended.

March 13, 2021 - Classic Flavor profile. Plenty of Tuscan dust on the back end, Black cherry fruit. A touch of black pepper on the finish

March 11, 2021 - Good. But don't expect a classic Chianti character. This wine is modern, creamy, and less grippingly tart on the palate than typical Chianti. Suggestive of Bdx or Calif. 100% Sangiovese matured in small barriques. I like it, but compared to the mid-1980's vintages of the same wine, something of a disappointment. Those earlier vintages, especially 1985/86 were not creamy, certainly less altered by oak, complex, truly memorable, and indisputably Tuscan. Now, this wine is merely good.

July 17, 2020 - An instant, full bouquet rises upon the cork clearing the bottle. Dusty rose, licorice, cherry, truffle, black olive. Very similar to my notes from an ‘06 aptly describe this wine as well: “beautiful dried cranberry color, .... black cherry/sour cherry, leather, violet scents to the silky smooth balanced mouthfeel. Somewhere in the mid-palate some balsamic flavors kick in.” And here too is a load of balsamic and pomegranate. A light to medium mouthfeel that is perfect for the first day of a heat wave. A beautiful wine. Almost no sediment. 15% alc. With leftover London broil (beef) and truffle and blue cheese. Highly Recommended.

November 16, 2019 - The wine looks purple colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like fig, plum, cherry, tea, fur, chocolate and alcohol/hot. It tastes like black currant (cassis), prune, plum, mushroom, stoniness, espresso, bark, black pepper, petrol, stoniness, meaty, fur, walnut, chocolate, alcohol/hot and ethanol. The body is medium/full. The wine has polished texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has high acidity.
