September 6, 2023 - Also tasted at enotecca pitti goia in Florence.

Was told the reason the winery still had it was because it didn’t undergo malolactic fermentation and customers refused it. The waiter said after 40+ years it doesn’t matter and I agree.

This is THE place for affordable old Chianti. Agree with AGZ055’s notes.

June 2, 2023 - Nose: Plum, chocolate, pepper
    Pallete: chewy, approachable
Finish : berries, blackberry, currant, light tannins that have a finish that lingers

January 1, 2023 - Fairly tertiary, but still very much alive, with nice lift and finish.

November 13, 2022 - Tasted by the glass at Enoteca Pitti in Florence. Told it's a library release from the winery. Slightly cloudy and still mostly ruby color. Leather, tobacco, forest floor, and red fruit on the nose. Classic Chianti palate of red fruit, tomato leaf, some spice, and balsamic with a lot of the leathery tertiary notes. Medium plus acid, soft tannins, medium body, and a medium to long finish.

February 19, 2019 - 7 Days in Italy II; 2/17/2019-2/23/2019: Aged in chestnut (started oak around 1987 when Federico started). Federico says this never went through Malo before bottling, but probably went though it over time in bottle. ‘Best drinking vintage right now, but it was quite a nitemare in bottles for quite a while.’ Harvest on 10th of Oct, fermented in concrete, no temperature control and then time in old chestnut barrels.

The same comment about Malo in bottle is made about old Biondi-Santi.

Not much fruit left on the palate, but no real signs of oxidation either. Excellent bottle.
