August 10, 2020 - This wine was slightly off. There was earth and forest floor flavors with hints of plum and tobacco but something was a little flawed. Drank with a 1945 Beychevelle and 1949 Haut Brion which were both better.

September 18, 2019 - 72 years old and really showing its age. The nose was impressive (sweet barnyard) but the flavors were difficult to identify because they were so muted. Some fruit remains but its mostly dried out and weak. Ullage was mid-shoulder. This wine is now a footnote in history.

March 1, 2019 - Drunk at Epure in Hong Kong - The run that Latour produced from '45 to '49 has to go down in history as one of the most phenomenal sequences of successful wine making in the history of mankind. Tasting all five of them together was quite a privilege. The '47 has a notes of forest floor on the nose. Good acid, not volatile as some have experienced. Along with the '48 probably not the strongest of the 5 and surpassed by '47 Mouton tasted the day before.

July 12, 2018 - Not a great vintage for Latour. And supposedly many ‘47s have excess volatile acidity in this very hot year. Astringent finish. Not in a class with the ‘45 or ‘49. But still has decent grip and a vestige of fruit.
