June 20, 2019 - Deep flavours of plum, earth, lots of spices, orange/citrus peel, olives, sandlewood, leather and tar. Good acidity, good length. Lots of sediments (as usual). Long bitter finish. It is certainly complex and interesting. But I find the flavours rather rustic and "dirty". I am sure it's popular among some drinkers for its high QPR. Some like to think of this as a cheaper alternative to old Bordeaux red. Unfortunately this is just not my cup of tea.

June 18, 2019 - Time and time again, this proves to be an overlooked vintage of a very good Musar. This has its feet planted somewhere between Burgundy and Bordeaux, with a sweet eastern vibe to it that is hard to place at times. It's an expression of terroir in its purest form, allowing the sense of place to shine through and co-mingle with the effort of producing a correct French wine, while paying respect to the best of what the region can grow and offer. I don't think I need to write a descriptive review of the flavor profiles and hope that the above, and the previous notes give you a sense of what you are in for and enjoy...Delightful and at peak with time on its side. Drink

    May 28, 2019 - Rødbrun farge.

Duft av lær og tørket frukt. Tre og krydder.

    Moden frukt på smak.

    Lett utgang, middels lengde. Tørr.

    91/100

April 1, 2019 - For me, this wine is perfect. Straight after decanting: nose of sour cranberry, meat and game, olive, sweet spice and a hint blackcurrant. Palate balanced but intense, with noticeable acid and and an undercurrent of ripe fruit (heat and distinctive jammy edge at the end), med+ tannin. After about 2h - what a transformation. Nose evolves into strong blackberry and prune, violets, cedar, smoke (cigar box?) and a punch of spice (black pepper, star anise). On the palate, still balanced and with that jammy edge but with big chewy tannins. Persistent but elegant fruit. Rich, ripe, spicy, a really sexy wine. Pure hedonistic pleasure. Can’t remember enjoying a wine like that for a long time. Couldn’t be improved.

March 31, 2019 - Very nice Musar. Drank from a 1/2 bottle. Nicely aged, good body and a great drink. Really pleased I have 6 more halves and a few full bottles.

I have drunk about 15 different vintages over the years and this one is up there with the best.

(Chateau Musar (Bekaa Valley)) This is far younger than I would usually approach any vintage of Chateau Musar, nevertheless it does show undeniable Musar character even at this early juncture. It has a good depth of colour although it isn't an intensely dark Musar. On the nose it is very true to form, showing deliciously sweet fruit nuanced with cloves, with a dried and spicy character. Typical Musar on the palate although with lots of youthful exuberance, very sappy and substantial too, richly imbued with structure. It is rather reticent in some respects, quite hard, withdrawn and peppery-spicy here, but these awkward elements of adolescence will fade with time. And then it should be very good.
