Community Tasting Notes 5

November 19, 2023 - Crimson with garnet highlights. Dusty top notes over ripe red berry fruit and sweet spices. Feathery light with good concentration and focus. Rich and persistent with a long lasting finish.

October 24, 2022 - Day 1 - Dark garnet color. Nose - cooked/concentrated cherry, cranberry, raspberry, ceder bark, lime, and iron. Palate - very high robust / laser sharp acidity, medium+ stemmy tannin. Medium++ finish. Excellent depth but a bit simple and tight, a bit reminds of too-young chassagne montrachet rouge from a cold vintage. Aging might help. 89-90.

Day 2-3 - bitter oak is more upfront and overpowering. Good depth but mouthfeel is still harsh. A bit underwhelming for Mason. 88-89.

Day 4 - oak got more integrated. Gained velvety texture (but still tingling on surface). 88-90 (wide range).

June 10, 2020 - Very well made wine, red cherry, cinnamon, vanilla, earth, wet leaves, tobacco, high acidity, med - tannins, med + finish.

September 3, 2019 - Pnp. Light Hue. Nose expressive of young cherries freshly crushed with its stone. Mouth simple, fresh, extracted and ripe. Like a sweat for kids. No tannins here, pure fruit, hiding at his best his vegetal notes. Perhaps in a new Zealand style. More technical, than cultural. Rating is difficult. let's give a 90 for the new world and 88 for Europe. Any reaction dude ?

February 14, 2019 - Much more to my liking compared to the 2014 Riserva Mazon from Hofstatter. Fragrant nose, flowers and strawberry fruit. Pure in its expression with good material, the fruit just a tad ripe but I think this will settle down with more years in the bottle. Full bodied, with plenty of fruit this is one to lay down.
