October 24, 2023 - Pop and pour; tense and terse on the nose and mouth; opens with intense red fruits and pure dark herbal inflected tones coming through; still very young but a bright and long future

September 1, 2022 - All yesterday I thought this bottle was ok, but today I'm sure it was somehow defective (I am guessing not perfect conservation). Taken it by itself, the wine was very interesting, after two hours decant it was super open, with a huge nose of meat, forest wood, sweet yeast cake (panettone in Italian), while on the palate it was a bit light for a Brunello, especially a young one, but others around it said it was finesse, and one labeled it better then the San Polino Helichrysum 2016 next to it.
I have a second bottle, I hope it will perform better when I open it in 10 years.

May 16, 2022 - Decanted for an hour before enjoying at a restaurant with family. Hands down the best Brunello I've ever had before. I had a small sample of this last year and it blew my socks off. This was my first time opening a bottle for myself. The aromas and palate of this wine were quintessential Sangiovese. The aromas were fresh with mint, sweet tobacco, dark cherries, forest floor, and wet cedar/oak. The palate was a little tight to start, but then it quickly opened up with a burst of cherry and brighter fruits, with a hint of spice integrated well with the refined tannins. Had a nice menthol, mint and leather aftertaste to go along with the fruits that went on for days. This wine has a lot going on and I loved it.

I'll admit I was being hyper-critical of this wine looking for any imperfections, but I honestly couldn't find any other than it probably would have been better if we waited 2-3 hours before enjoying it.

96+ if you under-decant it as I did, 97-98 if you can be patient and decant it for 3-4 hours, and 98+ in 5-10 years. I am shocked I was able to snag a few more bottles of this recently for under $200. Any Sangiovese and Italian wine lover needs to have this stocked in their cellar.

March 27, 2022 - Delicious! Drinking really well already at this young age, but clearly lots of potential for improvement over time. I'm buying a few more bottles right now to hold for a bit...

December 29, 2021 - Having tasted Salvioni fron 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2015 I thought this was best in class with no question. Brilliant balance of structure and finesse coupled with brilliant fruit and tannin. This wine blows away many other high caliber Italian wines for the same money ie Sotto or Cerbaiona. Curious what this wine will taste like in 5 years.
