  December 5, 2013 - Anything Goes: Cepages Tasting Group (12th Street Osteria, New York City): Drank blind. Donated by Alessandro. Ruby color with no tell tale signs of the wine's age. Nose of earth & mushrooms. Medium bodied, lots of ripe sweet fruit here, but also notes of pepper, mushrooms and earth. It shows somewhat of a rustic quality despite the copious amounts of sweet fruit. Very nice length, beautifully complex, elegant wine that, to me, was the biggest surprise of the day. (If I were to quibble, it did seem to get a bit hotter as it sat in the glass). I'd never tasted this wine before (it was produced only in 1997) so it was a real treat. This is a prime example of a new world California wine that bespeaks old world, traditional values. Drinking great right now & extremely enjoyable

  February 15, 2012 - This cab tasted like a brunello to me...black cherry with a tighter tannin layer than I expected...it was very good and I wish I had more, but not the traditional CA cab.

  January 24, 2007 - Wow. This wine keeps getting better and better. Drank with a host of other cabs including '97 Caymus Select- which was awesome by the way. It was still too young in my opinion although others seemed to think it may have lost it's fruit. Only time will tell and I'll open another up in 2008.
