November 17, 2023 - Pretty darn tasty. Lots of sediments, purple color. Blackberry, roasted plum, toasted oak, pie crust, slight dust with fine acidity and ripe tannins on long finish.

September 2, 2022 - TRB nails it for Saunter wines. Beautifully big structured Cabernet. Toasted dark fruits, roasted vanilla bean, freshly baked muffins, and lit tobacco. Palate adds more of sautéed dark fruits, licorice, coffee and some earthiness. Some chewy tannins on great finish. Love this wine. Cheers!

March 3, 2022 - Coravined a glass of this the other night and drank it after dinner.....it was great from the pnp with big juicy red berry fruit and great weight in the glass.

Flash forward 48 hours with cork in bottle just sitting on the counter at room temp of 74 deg here in Florida.

Classic Napa cab nose of graphite, dark red berries, forest floor. This wine has evolved over that time and is definitely more 'together' and balanced vs the other night. I liked the '15 I had last year but this '16 (my only bottle) is right there with it. What I have learned in the past few weeks and months is that really good fruit with really good winemakers holds together over 2-3 days but big 'manufactured' or 'recipe wine' as I like to call it, just doesn't hold up no matter how good the fruit source, or how high the bottle price. This is quality fruit with a quality winemaker. at a very decent price....wish I had more.

February 17, 2022 - 30 minute decant and consumed over a couple hours. Approachable after the decant and during consumption. Sweet red berry fruit, some spice and vanilla notes. For me a bit more fruit forward than what I would have preferred. So much so that I felt the acidity was not enough to overcome the juiciness of this wine and it made it feel out of balance for me. Perhaps a savory element would have helped balance this out for me.

Otherwise, the quality of the fruit and winemaking were all there, just missed the mark a bit for me. I have enjoyed the wines coming from their Eagle Summit Vineyard bottling, overall more structure and balance comparatively.

I saved half the bottle for day two and will amend my notes if the wines changes.

September 9, 2021 - Same as my previous score (92) but a different experience. Drank over several nights, coravin pour the first night with about 30 min of air and really enjoyed it. Really nice fruit, raspberries, blackberries, medium weight, nice acid and present but tolerable tannins.
Opened the next night and the tannins seemed to slowly increase in astringency over the 4 hours it was open. Saved some in a small bottle for the next night and still quite tannic even with 24 hours open.
I think this will age well but it just needs more time. Not a typical ‘16
