Community Tasting Notes 7

May 13, 2021 - Ripe yellow fruit: mango, peach, pineapple, some citrus (grapefruit), the fruit covers a bit the saltiness of the wine. Very dense with a lot of dry extract. I drink it for the first time, no experience with it, but I suppose that it will gain on complexity with time: 92+ upward potential.

    February 27, 2021 - During a Zoom-tasting I hosted.

Slightly lactic notes, ripe yellow fruit, grapefruit, pineapple, smoke, a touch of balsamic notes, nice minerality with crushed stone, salty stones. Full-bodied, dense and slightly creamy, with high acidity that is perfectly tied in an covered by a certain voluptousness. Long finish with salty notes and a touch of bitterness. Build up intensity and layers of complexity with more air.

April 8, 2020 - Brilliant Riesling again from PJK. Fresh bouquet with stone fruits, flowers and salinity. Very intense palate with laser like precision. This wine should have a great future ahead, but it already delivers at the moment.

December 23, 2019 - Easily the standout wine among a lot of top German Rieslings over the Christmas days. Wafting from the glass with ripe white fruit, marzipan, some great melt and long mineral sea breeze finish. Wow! (Much) better than Doosberg 2016 interestingly (the latter didn't seem to absorb the oak too well).

November 27, 2019 - 95-96(+?)pts. PJK's wines are among my favorites in Germany, and perhaps this is the reason I am rating this bottle higher than most. But this Sankt Nikolaus is much better than other vintages I've had of it, and is one of the best wines I've tasted in 2019 - period. This possesses an amazing balance between sweet and perhaps botyrized elements with perfect acidity, and displays enormous complexity. It really lingers in the mouth. At 44 euro, this is bank robbery. Wow!
