Nose dark fruited, herbal.
Palate dark fruit, some minerals. Initially closed but opens up. Shows on the riper side at first but unfurls with time. 90 pts -

September 9, 2019 - Ripe red fruit and garrigue; elevated but balanced tannins, acidity and alcohol. Classic sangiovese. At winery with Dave McDonald and Toni.

February 6, 2019 - Decanted 1 hr. ahead. Deep garnet color, fading toward the edge. Fine and fragrant nose of cedar, cherries, earth tones. Medium body on the palate, with very brisk acidity typical of Sangio. Fairly tannic on the finish, with powdery but coating tannins. This is not the winery’s top sangio (it’s not vineyard designated), but even so it could use more time to soften. Ambitious.
