September 7, 2019 - Rustic - but in a good way - organic wine with plenty of personality and class for it's price. Will buy the 2016 again.

    C....cloudy, not clear.

    N.....not much at all

T....defo organic wine, in fact a bit "french" in style, for a NZ Pinot; rustic without a rough edge; earthy; long and deep flavours, subtle and brooding; soft tannins, drinking very well; not especially complex, so why bother cellaring?

VFM?.....a Burgundy of this class would be twice the money, easily. Millton's Clos de St Anne Pinot is twice the La Cote's price, but is it twice the wine? I doubt it. La Cote in a good year: bargain.

June 30, 2018 - Fuck me if anyone could get this right on a blind tasting. This is like the 3D printing of wine, an error-free Burgundy prototype on Gisborne soil. Bright fruit in the form of early ripening raspberry, cherry juice and olive with splashes of thyme and red beet. Needs a bit of time to open up, but at the rate we drank it, I felt kinda regretful that I didn't snatch this bottle for myself. Savory in the mouth with that magical touch of oak that never came off as intrusive in the graceful battle between fruit and spice. Interesting find, would unquestionably buy it again just to mess around with a few Bourgogne fanatics.
