Community Tasting Notes 6

January 18, 2019 - Nose: Classic Pomerol expressions of plum, damson, black cherry, leather, wood smoke, sweet berries and clay. A very engaging nose. Palate: Surprising vigor in the Black Plum, raspberry, ponzu and tobacco on the palate. Great density that has elements of mocha, toffee and spice in the plum fruit. Finish: Good length yet not exceptionally detailed.

This was a two owner bottle held since the mid 1980s and cellared well. Showed right in the profile of Jeff Leve's 2009 notes. The vintage gave this outstanding life.

November 18, 2016 - Light vanilla and wood notes. Receding structure and fruit fading. Light heat distracts on the finish with air time. 87-

May 18, 2013 - Flickinger "Significant Cellar" Tasting (Chicago IL): Tasting, brief note. Mostly earth with tobacco hints and a bit of spice. Short, simple but pleasant on palate.

December 6, 2011 - Smoke, tobacco, herbs, earth and red berry aromas made up the aromas. Medium/full bodied, beefy in texture, this full mature Pomerol ended with a spicy plum and cranberry finish. I have had better bottles of this wine. If you run across a well stored bottle with good provenance, it's work checking it out.

July 10, 2009 - Truffle, soy, black cherry, pepper, leather, tar, black raspberry and tobacco notes make up the perfume. The soft textured wine is filled with dense, ripe, dark cherry flavors. In 61, Gazin switched to a unique wax capsule that is interesting and attractive.
