Community Tasting Notes 4

July 4, 2022 - Superb, higher alcohol (11.5%) feinherb Mosel. Vibrant lime flavours, tingly acids, very impressive mid-palate structure and racy nuances. Drinking well in early maturity. I very much like this style.

June 19, 2019 - Women Winemakers of Austria & Germany (Plum Market - Chicago IL): Walk around tasting talking with the producers, brief note. Floral and charming with lots of green apple and good precision and minerality. Good+ length and balance, and I expect some upside in the cellar.

June 19, 2019 - Women Winemakers of Austria & Germany at Plum Market (Chicago, IL): As I learned today, the increase in the number of feinherb/trocken bottlings at Selbach-Oster is a response to market demands. The invisible hand at work. I liked this, but just wish there was a hint more sweetness. The rocky quality of the site seems to show through here, and while there are the expected white and yellow fruit flavours, the finish here does end up a touch more austere on the finish.

    January 25, 2019 - Selbach-Oster tasting - 1 oz pours - bottle opened one hour prior

pale lemon color, a more ethereal nose than the Zeltinger Sonnenuhr, soft citrus, cuddly peaches, hints of white blossoms, on the palate well rounded with good depth, closed but showing a good bit of primary fruit at present, lovely sweet earth note leading into a fine long finish dripping with limes. **(*), 2022-2030+
