May 4, 2024 - Decanted about 2 hours and it was needed . was very closed before teh decant. Very aromatic with black cherry, leather, underbrush, spice and floral. Medium body. Still has plenty of fruit. Black cherry, leather, chocolate. forest floor, spice, and floral flavors . Smooth long finish. A perfect match to a lamb chop. Showing very well. No hurry to drink.

July 4, 2021 - Celebrating 4th of July dinner with charcoal barbecued ginger/shallot/savory herbs marinated duck breast, fresh leafy greens and grilled summer ripe yellow peaches. I figured the West Block could handle the rich amd bold flavors and that was certainly the case. It accompanied the food perfectly. The nose was already amazing when I decanted upon opening, the flavors impressed accordingly after 3 hours of airing. This is more bold and masculine than the Rochioli Little Hill from the same year. Very impressive and enjoyable now, I think it will further soften and improve with time.

February 20, 2021 - Special, very special. Masculine, but seductive. Black cherry, leather, spice on the nose. Best after 4-8 hours slow Ox, with soft tannins and a silky texture.
