Community Tasting Notes 13

May 28, 2023 - Medium ruby, some barnyard funk and raspberries on the nose. On the palate high acidity, high alcohol, full body, still some prominent tannin, blueberries and blackberries, black pepper. Drinking well, many years left in it.

July 16, 2022 - It took 45 minutes of air to open up, but really enjoyed it, nose is big red fruit, taste was tannin dominant to start, but the red fruit came out big with the 45 minutes of air, finish is long with that light tannin bite on the tip of your tongue.

December 19, 2021 - I have come back and edited my tasting note, in large part as a result that I was not familiar with the Mourvedre grape and realized it be worth while to learn something about it before being harsh about this wine. Indeed, the grape is known to be tannic (explaining many of the more recent tasting notes posted). The Mourvedre grape is used much more in old world wines, particularly southern Rhone which explains its lighter style, and as a result, don't expect this to drink like a typical New World wine. It has a ruby color, with red fruit, leather and a hint of oak. This is still a bit angular with sharp tannin, so would recommend giving it a few more years or at the very least, decant this for over an hour and drink with a juicy steak or game.

October 9, 2021 - A little thin, with candied red fruit. Not up to Carlisle’s usually high standards.

July 1, 2021 - We enjoyed it! It did not have the degree of earthiness that a lot of mourvedres present, but it was very enjoyable. It did offer dark fruits and some dustiness, but it also offered a vibrancy that I did not expect. Bottom line... I wish I had more.
