July 16, 2023 - A nice light body Douro red table wine with Lamb steaks. Not as flavorful and rich as some of the other Douro red wines.

September 8, 2021 - Portuguese and Spanish wines: Light purple color. The nose sports a warm compote of red plums and black cherries, along with a spicy herbal mix, black tea, some warm clay and light roast coffee. Tangy acidity on the palate with light, dusty tannins and tart black cherry fruit makes for a refreshing, lively wine. Warm clay, black tea, peppercorns and oregano add some complexity, Fan-friendly, inexpensive, but also “serious” and offers a whole lot of value.

July 15, 2021 - Retail $17. 40% Touriga Nacional, 30% Tinta Roriz, 30% Touriga Franca. Under cork. As Esporão, the Southern Portugal producer based in Alentejo, continues to make inroads in the climes of Northern Portugal, they are focusing on *dry* reds. And while this four-year-old Assobio remains quite fruity, so fruity that it comes off as sweet, it is actually completely dry according to the winemaker. Medium color in the glass with a potpourri of aromas: blackberry, anise, boysenberry, a bit of anise and black pepper. As I mentioned, the palate is fruity, even *quite* fruity, but with enough acidity to balance it out. A lovely expression of what a dry Douro can be.

December 2, 2020 - fragrant aromas of red berries, with more on the palate, very smooth and intense, little if any oak evident, providing a route to the purity of the fruit.
