  January 14, 2023 - 1 hour decant. Nose felt appropriate for the age, surprisingly sweet. Took a while to open up.

  November 26, 2021 - This is an excellent wine drinking beautifully. Upon opening had a rich fruit profile with some chocolate and a touch of tobacco. After open a few hours and on night 2 was more savory with cherry fruit and olive tapenade with a long finish. Still some grippy tannin so this still has plenty of life.

  September 12, 2021 - I struggled with this wine a bit - is this really what passes for bordeaux-like in Napa these days? This shows more than a little heat, and while it does have nice acid and dusty tannin, and while it's merely medium bodied and was a nice pairing with dinner, it's very wine dimensional - chocolatey, sweet dark cherry fruit. Very little of the secondary notes that, for me, are what make bdx grapes worth drinking. It's good, and i can sense the Eisele in here, but man it doesn't hold a candle to an old Phelps Eisele, not even in the sense of being a second wine but also just because it's missing all the character.
