Community Tasting Notes 2

December 3, 2018 - Figured I was really rolling the dice on this one at $130 but HOLY S#*!, was this good! Clearly aged, orangish, translucent dusky lavender color with clear rim; knockout nose of sous bois, truffles and onion compote; remarkable power to it still; perfect structure that not only holds it together, it carries it on seemingly forever with gorgeous red fruit, camp fire smoke, nicely soil inflected, very autumnal, celery seed. Great complexity and perfect balance. This just screams with everything that's great about aged burgundy! Amazing that some of my best finds have been "mere" village wines from decent vintages. If I had to be trapped somewhere with just one choice of wine, this would be it!!! (Probably my best wine of 2018 anyway) Still going the next day after laying some argon over the glass or so that was left in the bottle.

December 3, 2018 - One of the finest noses I can recall ever encountering; simply glorious nose of leather, various sous bois elements that change so rapidly like a kaleidoscope with plenty of sweetness intact. I guessed it to be a 78. Sweet dried fruit melange with bacon fat, hickory smoke, onion compote, compelling minerality that you find both on the nose and palate. The tannins seem to melt in your mouth, with layers of fatty beef broth-like savory flavors are held in balance but a weightless impression. Rich and regal but delicate and ever-changing. Kaleidoscopic nature with top notch intensity.
