Community Tasting Notes 8

June 8, 2022 - Fantastic. Wonderful nose, full of fruit and flowers. The palate is the best part: huge mid palate with mandarin oranges and crackling acidity, still a touch of spritz. Long. Glorious.

December 20, 2021 - Crunchy white peach, white apple and floral notes on the nose with a streak of slate behind. Close to medium bodied (8% ABV) with tart white peach upfront along with some more open and rounded apple. Mid-body develops depth, especially after the wine has been open for a bit. You start to get more expressive peach and apple along with some pear highlights, but the acidity crashes down and obscures additional nuances. Unlike the Graacher Himmelreich (which seemed to have the acidity embedded in it), in this Wehlener Sonnenuhr it descends like a curtain through the middle. Good tart notes on the backside and nice length on the finish. Sometimes, young rieslings with high acidity can be really fun to drink. This is a case where the wine will really benefit from being cellared a bit longer. There's a good amount of complexity through the middle that should be better expressed when the acidity comes into balance. Next bottle for me, Fall 2023.

N: some reduction; classic Prum WS aromatics; mix of gasoline/sweat/rubber; slight bloomy rind cheese note

B: slight spritz; medium-light maize color; full bodied

T: medium petrol; medium+ acidity, which is well-embedded and pushes forward on the finish; very nice --- stereotypically "well-balanced"; excellent

November 15, 2020 - CamWheelers note is spot on - It seems on the lush initially, but the acidity is just dynamite. Go to sleep now little ones.....

May 6, 2020 - Just ok on day 1, better on day 2. Needs time measured in years but potential is all there
