May 21, 2017 - Couldn't believe I still had a bottle of this hiding in the cellar; need to reorganize things in there! Opened with some trepidation considering my last unpleasant note but pleased to find a much better wine than before. I'd have to say there was considerable bottle variation at Neyers for this wine.
Color: medium-deep ruby core -> full garnet/brick rim. Complex bouquet of kalamata olives, leather, road tar, meat and a touch of black pepper; really pretty classic Cali Syrah nose. Soft, sweet black fruits in the mouth; olives, earth and underbrush but a little too berryish to my mind. Still a slight green/astringent element here but much, much less than that last bottle from '12. Reasonable medium-length finish that is still showing some nice fruit. This is so much better than before; anybody having any left it's time to drink and good luck to you in which side of the bottle variation line you fall.1 person found this helpful Comment -

September 3, 2013 - Past its prime, but still interesting. Some meatiness present and the fruit has faded.

November 21, 2012 - Color: dark plum/ruby -> dense garnet/slightly bricking rim. Nose of BACON fat, green vegies, barnyard funkiness and metal shavings. The nose is just all over the place and not particularly pleasant. The palate is more pleasurable but still really green and funky. I remember trying this several years ago when it was nearly undrinkable. While better now, it's still not what I'm interested in drinking. Down the drain with it . . . .
