October 14, 2021 - Smoky, restrained, fruit needs some air to show, nice structure.
Oak is perfectly integrated. Could have been a bit more giving, felt like a "mineral"-driven wine.

December 28, 2020 - I really appreciate this modern style Pinot, fresh and light with typical taste of raspberries and strawberries

August 21, 2020 - A village-level Pinot Noir made from the grapes of 30-yo vines. Extended maceration time of whopping 40 days. Aged in barrique barrels, of which 20% are new. 13% alcohol, 1 g/l residual sugar and 5,7 g/l acidity.

Quite deep and moderately translucent ruby red color with a slightly developed rusty hue. The nose feels juicy, cool and and quite fruity with pure aromas of black raspberries and red cherries, some peppery spice, a little bit of earthy Pinosity, light savory notes of turmeric and a succulent hint of fresh red plum. The wine is dry, firm and slightly angular on the palate with a medium body and vibrant flavors of ripe black raspberries, some stony minerality, a little bit of sweet red cherry, light tart notes of redcurrants and lingonberries, a hint of savory spice and assorted peppercorns and a touch of toasty oak spice. The overall feel is enjoyably structured, thanks to the high acidity and enjoyably textural, grainy tannins that retain nice sense of grip and firmness. The finish is dry, juicy and moderately grippy with fresh, savory flavors of black raspberries, some crunchy redcurrants, a little bit of sour cherry bitterness, light stony mineral tones, a hint of tart lingonberry and a touch of earthy Pinosity.

A wonderfully fresh, savory and rather structured Pinot Noir with wonderful sense of focus and purity. Doesn't come across as bold and spicy as the 2015 or as assertive and structured as the 2014, but you can still see this wine is cut from the same cloth. This feels more accessible and most likely this won't be as long-lived as the two previous vintages, but nevertheless it shows good potential for future potential. Very enjoyable already now and will get better with age. Consistently one of my favorite Spätburgunders year in, year out; solid value at 20€. Recommended.

July 21, 2020 - At our cabin. Medium ruby colour. Mixed berry notes, some coffee, spice notes and liquorice are joined by smoky, meaty and balsamic notes, with balsamic acidity, medium-fine tannin and good length of the slightly bitter finish. Medium-bodied, with average concentration and complexity. A good introduction to German Spätburgunder. Drink now.
