  April 6, 1991 - At home. Medium-dark ruby color, with purple highlights. Gorgeous. It cannot be under $5 and look like this! Wow! The nose hits you like a fist! It is SO fruity and forward, I can hardly believe it. Gorgeous black licorice. Not nearly as spectacular on the palate, it is nevertheless a very good wine, with rich, tannic, thick flavors and a long, long finish Tightly wound, this wine is fine. Who could ask for more? 5-13-15-7: 90/100.

  March 4, 1991 - At home in the evening. Pretty medium ruby with purplish highlights. Pretty fair legs. Loads of ripe raspberry fruit are very attractive in the nose. Quite enticing, plump and spicy. On the palate, it has a seductive round character with plenty of peppery fruit in the evidence. Quite satisfying, especially at the price. 5-11-15-7: 88/100.
