March 24, 2024 - This is mature and ready to drink. Very soft mousse and an overall mellowness carries over in total. There is a quiet confidence to the wine. Delicious. Corkage at zaytinya

January 10, 2023 - disgorged Nov 15, 2018 - somewhat fragrant, a little caramelized sugar, nice mousse. More rounded with a decent palate.

November 21, 2022 - Yes, I got Mark to drink a California wine! I know a lot of people drink these young, but I am convinced that a few years of bottle age does wonders. Toasty nose, a medium+ bodied midpalate with lots of Pinot fruit (but not over the top), slightly oxidative, and a fresh finish. Balanced acidity--not an acid bomb, but well balanced with the fruit. While the BdN is my least favorite of the Ultramarine wines, this nonetheless over-performed for the release price, and is a legitimate Champagne alternative. To harken back to the recent Rayas tasting, a number of experienced tasters thought a 2014 BdB Ultramarine was a Cedric Bouchard.....so don't knock it till you try it!

September 16, 2022 - This is rocking right now. Oxidative, nutty, overripe red apple. Really well balanced fruit sweetness and acid. Oldest post release UM I’ve tried and the extra age definitely helps it hit an even higher level.

September 1, 2022 - Sunshine yellow, distributed pinpoint mousse that is persistent. Toasty, citrus tinged apple nose with a leesy note. Palate is medium weight with good richness, fresh apple and cream, with aeration more citrus and touch of black berries. Incredible balance...floats across the tongue to a medium finish. Balance and concentration allowed it to go with every food we tried: Chips with Thai sweet chili sauce, curried chicken, asparagus.
