September 22, 2023 - I used to like Anthill Syrahs but this was rather boring. Good drinking wine, but nothing special.

May 31, 2023 - Audozed in bottle for 2 hrs. Drank over 75 mins with sliced ribeye steak. Textbook cool weather Syrah. Still quite young. Nose of black and blue fruit, olives, touch of pepper, and a meaty note, Palate follows the nose. Quite enjoyable, if not exactly complex (yet?) Very good QPR at just over $30.

June 19, 2020 - Decant at least two hours. I sampled over that period and found it showed more and more with time.
At this stage this is a plush, fruit-forward cold weather Syrah. Nose is blackberry compote, currant, bramble. Palette is sweet and juicy, with
black/blue fruit, and undertones of what’s to come - olives, roasted herbs, lighter meats. Whereas N. Rhône brings overt red meat blood tones, this more evokes roasted poultry. -

June 12, 2020 - This is an ok wine. A hint of fruit and some perfume on the nose, noticeable oak perfume in the mouth, gentle red fruit, with a hint of something candied, medium acidity and tannins in decent balance once it's had some air. Fades into some green stemmy notes. It lacks some concentration and the greenness is a little distracting.
Tasty but not enough to justify the £32 UK price, inferior to cheaper northern Rhone; £20 or so would be a decent price, but not a steal. -

September 5, 2018 - Producer wirte-up:
Much like the 2016 Campbell Syrah, the aromas of the Peters are monumental. Violet, lavender, tar with added notes of green peppercorn and baking spices show off in the aromas. Here there is more precision and penetrating flavors. A wine with deep and intense flavors, it remains light on its feet thanks to this cool coastal site’s high acids and rounded tannins. Every year Peters Syrah reminds us of the purity and grandness of this site — and Syrah in general in coastal California. Best enjoyed between 2019 and 2026.
