Low to medium intensity in the nose and the same goes for the palate. Its more vegetal and green but with (thankfully) no asparagus, there is fruit but more reserved, not blowing up in your face, medium to high acidity, medium body and finish. I'd say more of a food wine than to have on its own.

    Very pale appearance
Leesy nose that blows off to leave a stony/spritzy ‘tonic’ feel. Pears and violets make an appearance, but this is not Sauvignon as you know it.
Piquant in the mouth, a slight spritz and a succulent malic/apple charater. Very fresh style, light-bodied and delicate with a stony, very dry finish. Juicy stuff. Feels like modern Trocken Riesling.
Labelled up as 2018, but I thought we were meant to be tasting the 2019... will check and return.

October 1, 2019 - Bought The Wine Society, UK, approx £11.00

89/100 today but 90 on potential.

Back label says, "flinty character from the limestone soils of this Hawkes Bay vineyard." They mean it, it's there in spades. This is the most flinty New Zealand Sav Blanc I've had. KR bought this Ray's Rd vineyard off Trinity Hill who had part-owned it with a Loire Valley producer in a NZ/French joint venture.

    C....green tinge, light-medium body.

N.....very fresh, med+ intensity, passionfruit, lemons, apples. Exciting.

T.....Wow, flinty! Like sucking an oyster shell - with lemon. Lively acid, granny smith apples, quince with lemon drizzle, grapefruit pith, taut mouth-feel; very much a Foodie style - at the moment, but I should think it will fill out after cellaring. Say, this 2018 by 2021? This is very different from other HB Sav Blancs which are more fat/soft/rounder/tropical like, say, Te Mata Estate. Finishes dry. Solid core/essence.

VFM?.....Yes, a complex Sav Blanc worth cellaring - briefly, for 2 yrs, say - for £11. Not bad.

    Water white
Pretty, delicate aromas of pear, peach and maybe a little cassis (makes me think of Karthäuserhof).
some spritz, very dry with some grip.
Dry lime character, and the weight and cut feels like dry ‘classic’ Riesling.
Soda-like on the palate – clean (a little sptriz), dry, but lifted. Super clean.
Mineral but not overly complex or serious, this offers great refreshment and would make a brilliant partner to classic shellfish and simply prepared seadfood.
    Dangerously drinkable stuff!
