Community Tasting Notes 13

September 13, 2017 - Beautifully ripe dense fruit. Blackberry, Blueberry and bruised strawberry notes on the nose and palate. Enters with a lightness and round mouthfeel that contradicts the density of the fruit. Great spice and slight smoke notes as well. Where this goes wrong for me is in the dry oak heavy finish. All vanilla, charcoal and wood on the finish.

A great wine, that ends up merely "nice" due to over-oaking.

February 6, 2013 - No detailed notes. Initially, on the pop, apparently tight. Not offering a lot. Seemingly one dimensional and linear. 89 points.

Two hours later....what a morph! Fragrant, earthy, meaty nose that opens up into something more pleasant and aromatic. Dark fruit, leather, . On the palate, masculine. Meaning not much in terms of sweet or overtly fruit bomb. Resolved. Drinking well now, and no reason to hold. My one and only bottle, and I'm happy to have opened it today. Advice for current consumption......decant for 30-60 minutes. Reminds me of a less gamey, less sauvage '03 Right Bank......Monbousquet or Pavie. Frankly, more balanced and approachable than either of those.

January 20, 2013 - Drinking so well. Round, velvety and still young and fresh.

March 5, 2012 - Terrific blend from Napa. The syrah is nicely balanced by the cabernet. Comparable: Tim Hudson.

November 16, 2011 - Last bottle. Lots of red cherry, black cherry, cassis, and espresso over an acid frame that keeps that fruit extract in check. Really fine wine. Wish I had more.
